Orbis Honors Visionary Leaders at 2023 Gala

The 2023 Orbis International Gala, held at Gotham Hall in New York City, took place at the end of October raising over $500,000 in support of Orbis's global mission to combat preventable blindness and vision loss.

GE Aerospace, synonymous with innovation in aviation, was honored for its contributions to Orbis’s mission. GE Aerospace has been a longstanding supporter of Orbis, with its engines playing a crucial role in powering the Flying Eye Hospital’s missions worldwide. Russell Stokes, President and CEO of Commercial Engines and Services at GE Aerospace, graciously accepted the 2023 Orbis Award, emphasizing the pivotal role of innovation and sustainability in advancing sight-saving programs.

Additionally, the gala celebrated the remarkable legacy of Dr. Eugene Helveston, the visionary founder of Cybersight. Dr. Margarita Barnoya and Dr. Dan Neely, esteemed Volunteer Faculty members, paid tribute to Dr. Helveston's enduring impact on the field of ophthalmology. Dr. Helveston's pioneering contributions have been instrumental in transforming accessible eye care over the past two decades.
