We expected to spend 2020 celebrating how far we’ve come in the fight against avoidable blindness while scaling up our programs to confront the next great challenge: the projected tripling of global blindness over the next 30 years.

But 2020 has turned out to be more extraordinary than we ever could have imagined. COVID-19 has impacted our work around the world and challenged us like never before.

Please help Orbis continue to save sight around the world by donating to the COVID-19 Emergency Vision Fund. Its purpose is to quickly raise and distribute funds for essential Orbis programs that are continuing around the world. With many of our global fundraising events and activities canceled or postponed due to COVID-19, this fund is critical. And so is your support.

Because the fight against global blindness can’t wait. People with serious, vision-threatening eye conditions need our help now.

That’s why we’re moving forward with our in-person programs wherever we safely can, and supporting our partner hospitals around the world.

And it’s why doctors the world over have been turning to Cybersight, our award-winning telemedicine and e-learning platform, for training and support at this time. Cybersight trainings are drawing record numbers of participants, and we’ve already exceeded our 2020 target for new user registrations.

So while the Flying Eye Hospital is temporarily grounded, our mission is not. Our sight-saving work continues online through Cybersight and in person in countries like Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Mongolia, Peru, Vietnam, and beyond.
