Great Ethiopian Run 2014 - Sunday 23 November
THE 2014 GREAT ETHIOPIAN RUN
Join Orbis Ireland as we head off on the adventure of a lifetime to the 2014 Great Ethiopian Run.
Over the past five years we have raised almost €500,000 through participating in The Great Ethiopian Run. Following on from this phenomenal history of success, we are delighted to be taking part once again in 2014. With your help, we can raise yet more money for our sight-saving work in southern Ethiopia.
On Sunday 23 November 2014, over 36,000 people will take to the streets of Addis Ababa to take part in Africa's BIGGEST road race, a challenging 10km run at 10,000ft above sea level. On the day, a huge variety of runners from all age groups and fitness levels take part. A carnival atmosphere takes over the city as the crowd surges forward. Established in 2001 by one of the world's greatest long-distance runners, Haile Gebrselassie, The Great Ethiopian Run is not to be missed!
Orbis Ireland will be there to guide you every step of the way. With departures from both Dublin and London, it couldn't be easier to join us on this trip of a lifetime. Departing on Thursday 20 and returning on Thursday 27 November (with the option of returning on Monday 24), this is the ultimate week away with a difference. Whilst in Ethiopia, you will have the opportunity to experience life in this fascinating country with traditional dining, entertainment and excursions included. As part of the ORBIS team, we'll take care of your hotel, travel and race entry.
Joining us at the 2014 Great Ethiopian Run means that you will be giving the gift of sight. As part of your trip, you will have the chance to witness Orbis at work in the local community. You will visit a local school, water station and witness how Orbis is making real change happen in southern Ethiopia.
How Do I Sign Up?
Each participant raises a minimum of €3,500 (€3,000 for the Thursday – Monday trip). The Orbis fundraising team are here to help and we will provide you with a fundraising kit to get you started. We have a lot of experience raising funds, some great suggestions to help you achieve your goal and we will be with you every step of the way.
