ORBIS depends on caring individuals, companies and foundations for annual funding.  Donated products and services are also of critical importance, with nearly $38 million in gifts-in-kind provided last year.

The contributions of our corporate and foundation sponsors range from multi-year grants to donated medical products and services, as well as aviation support. In addition, hundreds of accomplished eye care professionals volunteer their time and expertise to make ORBIS training programs possible. Individual donors from across the world share this kind, philanthropic spirit, donating millions to our sight-saving work.

ORBIS is dedicated to preventing and alleviating avoidable blindness in direct, concrete and cost-effective ways. During calendar year 2008, 87 percent of our revenue went to program services. Our total revenue for that time was $81.3 million, including gifts-in-kind. Our total operating expenses for 2008 were $70.4million, including gifts-in-kind.
