At just 14 years old, Tisha from rural Bangladesh already understands how vital good vision is to achieving her dreams. A student in Class 10, Tisha is preparing for her board exams next year—one of the most important academic milestones of her life. But for the past two years, worsening vision threatened to blur her future.
Tisha began experiencing blurry vision, frequent headaches, and eye discharge while at school. “It made it difficult for me to see clearly and concentrate in class,” she says. “These issues began affecting my studies, and since I’m preparing for my board exams next year, I decided it was necessary to seek help.”
In many rural areas of Bangladesh, eye care is out of reach—physically, financially, and socially. “There is no proper eye care facility in my community,” Tisha explains. “Only local village doctors who often lack formal medical training.”
Fortunately, a cousin who works as a nurse, and a neighbor, recommended the Orbis-supported vision centre in Joldhaka, in the Nilpharamari district, operated by Deep Eye Care Foundation, an Orbis-supported hospital. For Tisha, it was life-changing.
