World Sight Day 2025: How Tisha is Learning to Love Her Eyes

This World Sight Day, we are celebrating children like Tisha who are learning to love their eyes—thanks to improved access to the care they need to protect their sight and reach their potential.

A Vision Center Close to Home

This vision centre has been a blessing for me,” Tisha says. “Without it, I would have had to travel far from home for treatment, which would be both expensive and difficult for my family.”

Now, instead of traveling long distances and missing valuable study time, she has access to high-quality eye care right in her community. The care she received is already making a difference—and it couldn’t have come at a more important time.

Tisha was also relieved to be examined by a female staff member. “I would have felt shy and uncomfortable if it were a male provider,” she explains. “Being examined by a female staff member helps me feel more at ease and comfortable. It’s important for girls like me to feel safe and respected in healthcare settings.”

Tisha’s story is proof that when young people are empowered to love their eyes, they can take control of their health and their education.

Thanks to our partners and supporters, students like Tisha don’t have to choose to stop their studies due to their sight. With the right care at the right time, they can see the blackboard clearly—and see a future full of possibility.
