Kula was more than a visionary leader; he was kind and thoughtful, with a wise, calm presence that left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Dr. Hunter Cherwek, Vice President of Clinical Services at Orbis International, shared: "I knew Kula well and must say he always stood out for his dedication as a board member—joining online calls starting quite late in Asia and always asking insightful, thoughtful questions. He was a kind man and always had a special place in his heart for Orbis and our mission, as we did for him in return."
Kula’s daughter, Aneeta Williams, told us: “Dad was very proud of being on the Board of Orbis International, and he was totally dedicated to the cause. He suffered from Parkinson's Disease and a host of other heart and lung ailments, but that did not prevent him from continuing his advocacy and passion for preventing and treating eye diseases, particularly for those who were less privileged.”
We are forever grateful for Kula’s leadership, compassion, and belief in a world where everyone deserves access to quality eye care. His memory will live on in the work we do every day.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who were touched by Kula’s remarkable life across the globe.
