Santen and Orbis International Team Up to Expand Access to Training through Cybersight

We're excited to announce a new partnership with Santen, a global leader in ophthalmic equipment, research and development. The three-year global partnership will create online courses, live surgical demonstrations and artificial intelligence focused on glaucoma - a leading cause of avoidable blindness.

Tools for the Future

The collaboration will use Cybersight, which has 25,000 users across 199 countries. Through this partnership, Santen, a global leader in ophthalmology with a focus in glaucoma, can allow eye care professionals in remote areas to access these tools. By adding to the growing educational resources available in languages like Chinese, we aim to increase the number of eye care professionals who can benefit from the platform.

Technology has opened so many doors in our work to end avoidable blindness.

"Technology has opened so many doors in our work to end avoidable blindness. This initial step in the new partnership with Santen is very significant for Orbis because it allows us to further strengthen Cybersight offerings and reach more ophthalmologists in more countries," said Dr. Danny Haddad, Orbis's Chief of Programs. "As we increase eye care professionals' access to training in their local language, we are ensuring that more patients get the quality care they deserve."

Virtual solutions that allow for distance learning and connection have never been more important. As COVID-19 still affects eye care professionals abilities to work and learn in offices and classrooms, record-breaking numbers have registered for Cybersight and taken advantage of the platform's learning opportunities.

We'd like to give Santen a big welcome to the Orbis family. With their expertise and global reach we're sure that, together, we'll help change the way the world sees.
