Young child with cataract.

Give the Gift of Sight This #GivingTuesday

Have your #GivingTuesday donation matched dollar for dollar, up to $25,000, and help restore vision for more children like Halima.

Instead of running and playing, four-year-old Halima from Bangladesh needed help walking.

The reason? Cataracts had severely deteriorated her vision, to the point that she walked right into walls and furniture.

Thanks to our generous donors, Halima received two free surgeries performed by an Orbis-trained eye care professional. She now has a brighter future, but nearly 1,400 girls and boys will go blind today from untreated eye disease. It’s on their behalf that Orbis works night and day.

Salima cares for her little sister, Halima, who was born with cataracts. Though only a child herself, the elder sister explains that it is her job to care for her younger siblings.

In partnership with our family of supporters, Orbis:

  • Trains local eye care professionals to perform vision-restoring surgeries
  • Makes sure children have eyeglasses to wear to school
  • Teaches community members to screen children and adults for eye diseases

A generous friend wants to inspire fellow supporters to give the gift of sight this #GivingTuesday — and will match all gifts $1-for-$1, up to $25,000. That means your support will have double the vision-restoring impact!
