Telehealth Intern

Orbis is an international non-profit that brings people together to fight avoidable blindness. Our mission is to use our amazing network of partners, supporters, staff and sector leading volunteers to empower local communities with the skills and resources necessary to fight blindness on their own.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN THROUGH THIS INTERNSHIP?

Cybersight is Orbis’s award-winning telemedicine platform. It is equal parts school, library and remote-medicine platform. Through Cybersight, Orbis can support eye health professionals in more than 100 countries around the world – far more than we could feasibly reach in person. It also allows us to work in difficult places we would not normally work for reasons of safety or conflict.

Over a three-month span, the telehealth intern will be tasked with projects related to data analysis and machine learning for the Cybersight telehealth application. This internship will prepare the graduate student for a job in the nonprofit/global health technology sector, by giving them an understanding of how telehealth helps aide nonprofits in extending the reach of their mission. The intern will also see how day-to-day job duties effect our global telehealth initiatives.

At the end of the three months, the intern will have acquired the skills to use machine learning and data analysis on telehealth application data to find insights to address real world healthcare problems.
