JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) program team, the Project Coordinator provides coordination services to Orbis Bolivia Project. The coordinator’s deliverables will ensure that Orbis’s program activities on this project are implemented in a timely fashion with quality outcomes.

REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Project Manager reports to the Senior Program Manager, Latin America & The Caribbean based in New York, NY.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

The key areas of responsibility are:

  • Act as liaison between Orbis International and the partner institutions in Bolivia and communicate with and visit the partners to gather information and update the partner on the project’s plans, activities, and strategies.
  • Represent Orbis in key stakeholder meetings and other relevant events and organize/facilitates stakeholder meetings on Orbis’s behalf, as needed.
  • Schedule and prepare for online and in person meetings with Orbis staff.
  • Update the program department’s informational resources on the Intranet, OneDrive, SharePoint.
  • Support the preparation of the project’s work plan and quality assurance.
  • Supports overall project implementation, award through project closeout.
  • Liaise with the LAC team to support and oversee the timely implementation of activities, monitor and contribute to the development of project reports and financial reports.
  • Draft program content for donor reports & support the development, design, and writing of proposals and concept notes.
  • Translate documents from Spanish to English, and vice-versa.
  • Coordinate on the ground and travel logistics for Orbis staff and donors visits as needed.
  • Identify equipment and supply needs in project locations, oversee vendor relationships and supply/import of medical equipment and supplies or the projects’ activities.
  • Participate in the Flying Eye Hospital planning visits and projects, as required.
  • Liaise with Orbis LAC Coordinator, Orbis International – finance, development, travel, program, telehealth – teams to ensure appropriate flow of information.
  • Perform other duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in working with an international NGO
  • Proven experience in coordination activities of international development programs.
  • Experience in international eye health preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in English and Spanish
  • Flexible, pro-active, and open-minded work style: the ability to work productively both independently and in a team-based environment
  • Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively in person and in writing with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • High degree of computer literacy including MS Office, presentation software and knowledge resource databases, search engines etc.
