Legal Intern

Orbis is an international NGO that brings people together to fight avoidable blindness. With our network of partners, we mentor, train and inspire local teams to fight blindness in their own communities. We believe that no one should live a life of unnecessary blindness, simply because of where they were born.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN THROUGH THIS INTERNSHIP?

The Legal Intern will work directly with the General Counsel across a wide area of law, including contract drafting and negotiation, international non-profit corporate structuring and governance, and general legal research.

ACTIVITIES, TASKS, PROJECTS YOU WILL DO TO ATTAIN THE LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

  • Basic contract review and negotiation, including Cause Marketing Agreements
  • Assist in preparing trademark filings
  • Support filing state registrations
  • Healthcare-related legal research
  • Data privacy legal research
  • Social enterprise legal research
  • Non-profit governance research

LEARNING SUPERVISOR & RELATIONSHIPS

The intern will be supervised by the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited law school, either 1L or 2L summer
  • Demonstrated interest in domestic/international NGO or social enterprise law

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in legal research, analytic and writing skills
