THE ROLE:

As a key member of the U.S. Development Team, the Individual Giving Associate is responsible for engaging and inspiring a portfolio of 350 donors who contribute between $1,000-$3,000 to Orbis annually. Working closely with the Manager, Major Gifts, the Associate will have the opportunity to help shape our Mid-Level gift program by designing and implementing initiatives that demonstrate the impact of our donors’ support. Through thoughtful and creative outreach, the Associate will build meaningful relationships, creating opportunities for our supporters to join in our mission of delivering innovative and life changing eye care programs.

THE TEAM:

This is an exciting time to join Orbis, and especially our growing (and super fun, if we say so ourselves) development team, on a mission to transform the way we engage our supporters! The Individual Giving Associate reports to the Manager, Major Gifts. Together, they work closely with the Individual Giving Team, as well as all members of the U.S. Development Team and colleagues cross departmentally in NY and other Orbis offices as needed.

  • Grow support from a portfolio of donors by engaging, delighting and inspiring them through a combination of personalized outreach including meetings, letters and calls
  • Develop compelling stories and content that demonstrate the importance of Orbis’s work
  • Collaborate with (our equally fun and fabulous) communications and program teams to identify and execute on opportunities to engage this portfolio of donors
  • Track and report on donor activity, motivation, intentions, interests and use this information to further grow and improve our individual giving program
  • Leverage volunteers and use research tools to identify and cultivate new relationships
  • Drive forward an organization on a mission to transform lives and have fun!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Or qualifications and experience

  • Bachelors or equivalent degree and 3 years of work experience, preferably in fundraising, sales or other role managing relationships
  • Ability to inspire enthusiasm, trust and respect of Orbis external and internal stakeholders
  • Enthusiasm for our work and excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse, collaborative and entrepreneurial environment
  • Goal-driven and self-directed style of work, with very strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize
  • Ability to work with data to track progress and inform our efforts
