JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Grants Management will be responsible for developing, managing, and overseeing the full range of award management activities and practices across the organization to best support project teams, country leadership and overall award management operations. This includes ensuring development and optimization of award management systems, processes, and tools. Working closely with the finance, development, and program functions, the Director will contribute to organizational strategy and drive growth and continuous improvement in the organization's systems and processes, striving to create excellence in award management.

This is a global role, remote or assigned to an established Orbis location.
REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The Director, Grants Management reports to the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and works closely and collaborates with team members from Global Programs, Development and Orbis Affiliates connects regularly with Orbis employees in the Finance team. This position will supervise one team member.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Develop and implement systems and best practices for managing cooperative agreements, grants, contracts, and sub-awards.
- Develop standard terms and conditions for grant award letters, agreements, and contracts.
- Provides templates for and reviews memoranda of understandings, teaming agreements, contracts, sub-agreements, and other award types
- Pre-signature review of contracts and agreements or modifications and amendments to ensure compliance with donor requirements.
- Negotiates contracts, sub-contracts and modifications, advises upper management of risk involved and takes the lead in disputes concerning contractual issues
- Maintains permanent files including successful proposals, all award documents and correspondence with contracts and grants officers that affect funding or other agreement terms and conditions
- Provide guidance on the implementation of the award programs, including closure and disposition plans
- Provide procedural, policy guidance and interpretation for program staff as well as sub-grantees to ensure adherence to award management policies and achievement of award objectives
- Establish procedures for pre-award responsibility and financial reviews of potential subgrantees
- Remains current on changes within the industry through publications and continuing education, and maintains up to date resources for staff to use
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree with a preference for a Master's degree in Business Administration, Political Science, International Affairs, Finance, Law or related field
- 7 years of experience managing grants and cooperative agreements and demonstrating negotiating expertise
- Cradle to grave contract administration experience including award negotiations, subcontractor management, procurement and performance auditing and dispute resolution
- Extensive knowledge of USG rules and regulations
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Highly developed collaboration, management, and leadership skills and Strong logistical attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for use in preparing information, clarifying situations, resolving problems, and for use in preparing a variety of correspondence and reports.
- Analytical ability for complex contractual actions; ability to interpret contractual terms and conditions
- Demonstrated experience in formulating and implementing policies and procedures
- Experience supervising grants and contracts staff
