Associate, Midlevel Gifts

As a critical member of the U.S. Development Department, the Associate, Midlevel Gifts is responsible for a portfolio of midlevel donors. They will work with the Manager, Major Gifts to meet midlevel giving revenue targets, maintain excellence and support expansion by identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding midlevel donors in the U.S.

The Associate, Midlevel Gifts reports to the Manager, Major Gifts. They work closely with the Individual Giving Team, as well as all members of the U.S. Development Team and liaises with colleagues cross departmentally in NY and other Orbis offices as needed.


Or essential job functions and key areas of responsibility

  • Raise revenue based on annual operating plan through a portfolio of midlevel donors.
  • In collaboration with the Manager, Major Gifts, create and monitor progress against annual strategy, implementation plan and budgets.
  • Conduct donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship including telephone calls, thank you letters, personalized cards, face-to-face meetings.
  • Proactively use prospect identification, research and qualification processes to generate prospects and implement strategies for driving midlevel giving.
  • Apply tools and team practices for documenting, monitoring and reporting on donor activity, motivation, intentions, interests and other pertinent information.
  • Develop online and offline content and collaborate with the team on Direct Mail outreach.
  • Identify and cultivate volunteers to assist with prospect identification and cultivation.
  • Identify Major Gift prospects and collaborate with the Major Gifts team.
  • Coordinate work with any required outside vendor.
  • Participate in special projects and events as requested.

Or qualifications and experience

  • Bachelors or equivalent degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience, preferably in fundraising or sales
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain ongoing relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse, collaborative and entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to inspire enthusiasm, partnership, trust and respect of Orbis’s external and internal stakeholders.
  • Goal-driven and self-directed style of work, with very strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize.
  • Dependability and proactive approach to support team members
  • Ability to work with data to drive fundraising results
  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Computer literacy in all MS Office applications as well as the Internet and Blackbaud products (Raiser's Edge and Research Point)
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for the role, team and shared vision
