JOB SUMMARY 

The Associate Director- Digital Learning & Content is accountable for defining and delivering Cybersight’ s global digital learning strategy and ecosystem, ensuring it drives measurable improvements in clinical capacity, professional development, and eye health outcomes globally. The role sets the strategic direction and standards for digital learning across Cybersight and contributes to Orbis’s broader learning and training models by integrating digital learning with clinical programs, platform capabilities and global partnerships. 

The role leads a multidisciplinary global function, and is responsible for ensuring that Cybersight’s learning ecosystem is scalable, evidence-based, and embedded within training systems across multiple countries and institutions.

This role may suit candidates with backgrounds in digital education, medical education, or large-scale professional learning platforms.

REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Associate Director, Digital Learning & Content reports to the Vice President, Cybersight. This role provides strategic leadership across the digital learning function, working closely with Clinical Training, Global Programs, Country Teams, as well as clinical experts, Orbis Volunteer Faculty, Cybersight mentors as well as external partners including academic institutions and professional bodies. The position leads the Digital Learning & Content unit, supervising the Digital Learning Specialist, Technical Specialist and the Translation & Localisation consultant. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Learning Strategy & Ecosystem

  • Define and lead Cybersight’s global digital learning strategy ensuring alignment with Orbis’s organisational priorities and global eye health and capacity building goals. 
  • Design and oversee an integrated, end-to-end learning ecosystem that connects courses, mentorship, clinical training, and knowledge resources.
  • Lead the evolution of towards scalable, personalised, and competency-based learning models across diverse global contexts.
  • Ensure integration of digital learning with platform capabilities, clinical programs, and country-level implementation.

 Learning Portfolio & Standards

  • Oversee the full Cybersight learning portfolio, ensuring alignment with global clinical priorities and emerging learning needs.. 
  • Establish and enforce organisation-wide standards for instructional design, content quality, and course lifecycle management.
  • Provide authoritative guidance on digital and medical education approaches, integrating best practices across multiple disciplines.
  • Engage and influence clinical experts, academic institutions and partners to co-develop high-impact learning content.

CPD & Professional Development Systems

  • Lead the implementation of Cybersight’s CPD framework and global learning pathways. 
  • Build and maintain partnerships with accreditation bodies and professional organisations to strengthen recognition and uptake.
  • Ensure alignment of learning with recognized workforce development needs and long-term professional competency frameworks. 

 Global Content Localisation & Access

  • Refine and lead global localization strategies to ensure equitable access across languages, regions and resource settings. 
  • Address and ensure learning content is culturally relevant, accessible, and aligned with user and program needs in diverse LMIC contexts. 

Learning Analytics, Impact & Innovation

  • Define and implement frameworks for measuring learning impact.
  • Lead analysis of complex, multi-source data to inform strategic decisions and continuous improvement – both of learning content and user experience.
  • Drive innovation in digital learning models, including piloting and scaling new approaches.

.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced degree in education, public health, global health, or a related field
  • 10 years’ experience leading in one or more of the following areas:
    • Digital learning or education platforms
    • Medical or professional education
    • Large-scale training or capacity building programs
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated experience designing and scaling learning systems across multiple countries or institutions.
  • Experience with professional development or CPD programs
  • Experience working with clinical or health professional training; ophthalmology is a plus
  • Experience working within global or LMIC health programs

  • Deep expertise in digital learning, curriculum design and professional development
  • Ability to integrate multiple disciplines and translate complex clinical knowledge into accessible learning formats
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder engagement skills across global contexts
  • Data-driven decision-making and analytical capability
  • Ability to work effectively with global teams and partners and operate with autonomy in complex and ambiguous environments
