Donor-Advised Funds

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) are an easy, flexible way to help save sight and fight blindness.

What is a donor-advised fund (DAF)?

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a tax-efficient way to make a charitable donation. A DAF allows you to give cash, stock and other assets to a charitable fund, receive an immediate tax deduction and then recommend grants to Orbis from the fund over time.

Orbis gratefully accepts grants from DAFs in support of our mission delivering sight-saving programs around the world so that individuals, families, and communities can thrive. We partner with some of the largest DAF sponsor organizations and their philanthropic service teams in the United States.

We’ve made it easy to initiate your grant recommendation. Clients of BNY Mellon, Fidelity Charitable and Schwab Charitable can make a designation to Orbis through the DAF Direct window on this page or utilize the links for other sponsoring organizations, below.

If you have an account at one of these popular charitable funds, make a grant today to Orbis’ USA tax I.D. number is # 23-7297651.

Interested in learning more about establishing a DAF? The next step is to consult your financial advisor for their guidance.

How do donor-advised funds work?

DAF’s can easily be set up through your financial institution or a community foundation to serve as a flexible charitable giving vehicle. You initiate the designation of a single grant or a recurring grant (monthly, quarterly or annually) to Orbis through your charitable account organization. Giving through your donor-advised fund is a powerful way to help Orbis.

For more information on how to establish a DAF, contact your financial advisor or community foundation.

Why are donor-advised funds used?

  • You can quickly put your charitable dollars to work
  • You can make recurring gifts with ease on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis
  • Your giving account has the potential to grow, possibly providing additional funding when you are ready to make a gift
  • You may also designate Orbis as the beneficiary of the fund through your estate planning
  • You can turn your portfolio into an impactful gift that will prevent blindness and help people thrive

Note: Individual situations may vary, so donors should consult their financial advisors.
