AAAASFI

AAAASFI’s accreditation programs standardize and improve the quality of medical and surgical care.

In 2014, the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities International (AAAASFI) accredited Orbis’s Flying Eye Hospital (FEH) after passing an inspection of the most stringent set of applicable standards regarding patient safety criteria — the same criteria used to evaluate first-class outpatient facilities in the United States and globally.

AAAASFI’s accreditation programs standardise and improve the quality of medical and surgical care in outpatient facilities and assure the public that patient safety is a top priority. This accreditation represents Orbis’s distinction in quality and patient safety on the Flying Eye Hospital and ensures that patients are receiving the best ophthalmic care possible in line with international standards.

Physicians who understand local customs and culture perform onsite surveys and interact with the AAAASFI Global Standards Advisory Committee to review subtle nuances, along with vast differences, in AAAASFI standards appropriate for each country. All accredited clinics must pass inspection of practice standards in the following:

  • General environment and
  • operating room
  • policies and
  • recovery room
  • blood and
  • medical
  • quality
  • personnel and staff;
  • anaesthesia

The AAAASFI is a for-profit subsidiary of the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF). Ortmann Healthcare Consulting Services assisted with Orbis’s accreditation.
