DAI FROM VIETNAM
Dai was diagnosed with cataracts from birth, but after an operation at an Orbis-supported hospital, his vision was restored. Now, he loves to play outside with his friends!
VAISHNAVI FROM INDIA
Vaishnavi wore her favorite dress on the day she had her cataract operation, and smiled at everyone she met! Thanks to our new pediatric eye care project at the Akhand Jyoti Eye Institute in the state of Bihar, India, Vaishnavi’s sight was restored by our world leading Volunteer Faculty.
ASEGEDECH FROM ETHIOPIA
Asegedech suffered from trachoma, a blinding and painful condition that caused her eyelashes to turn inwards. Thankfully, our team in Ethiopia was able to cure her condition with antibiotics.
SALIOU FROM CAMEROON
Saliou’s cataracts were so bad, he used to suffer from painful headaches. But since his operation – on board the Flying Eye Hospital – his headaches have stopped and he can finally go to school!
KINGSLEY FROM GHANA
Kingsley’s eye condition meant he was very sensitive to light, stopping him from playing outside with his friends. But that’s all changed since his operation – now he loves to play games outside!
SHUNWEN FROM CHINA
Shunwen giggled and smiled as she boarded the Flying Eye Hospital to have her glaucoma treated! Her operation was a success, and trainees got to watch and learn live as it happened.
MEGHA FROM NEPAL
Megha’s amblyopia (lazy eye) meant she struggled to see the board in class.An operation stopped her sight from worsening, and now she can continue to chase her dream of teaching.
NYAMDORJ FROM MONGOLIA
Nyamdorj happily scribbled in a coloring book as he went in for his cataracts operation. With his sight restored, he can safely get back to riding bikes and horses at his family’s home in rural Mongolia.
