His work ensures that Orbis remains financially strong and well-equipped to deliver on our mission to build strong and stable eye care systems globally.
Mark has over 25 years of global leadership across finance and operations in the international nonprofit sector. Previously, he served as Chief Financial Officer at Alight (formerly the American Refugee Committee), where he supported refugees and displaced communities across more than 20 countries during nearly 16 years of service.
Additionally, Mark held key roles at Habitat for Humanity International as a Finance Manager for Africa & Middle East in Pretoria and as a Director of Business Strategy Development for Asia Pacific in Bangkok.
Mark holds a Master of Science in Taxation from DePaul University, Chicago, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Fort Lewis College in Colorado. His professional excellence was recognized in 2023 when he was named CFO of the Year in the large nonprofit category by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
A strong match with Orbis’s mission, Mark shared that a personal health experience—a torn retina from a sports injury requiring laser eye surgery—deepened his appreciation for equitable access to quality eye care. “Having worked in the INGO space for so long, I am acutely aware how fortunate I am to have easy access to high‑quality medical and eye care,” he reflected.
Mark is known as a collaborative leader who emphasizes mentorship and clear communication —qualities that embody Orbis’s values. Outside of work, he enjoys staying active—playing soccer, skiing, and fly fishing—and has completed 15 marathons, including the New York City Marathon.
