World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment. World Sight Day 2017 is on 12 October 2017. This day was created by the World Health Organization  in collaboration with the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) to spread awareness of preventable blindness.

253 million people are blind or visually impaired in the world with around 80% suffering from conditions that are treatable, curable or preventable.  By helping countries build the skills, knowledge and resources they need to prevent blindness and provide the highest quality eye care possible we're doing all we can to combat this awful statistic.
