• Keep it simple
  Don’t worry about organising something extravagant, such as a ball for 400 people, if you’re pushed for time. Sometimes the simple ideas work best.
  
  
• Set a fundraising goal
  You many find it useful to set a fundraising target. This gives you something to aim for, which can help keep you motivated. Don’t let fundraising be daunting -– break your target down into small chunks. You’ll be surprised at how small amounts can quickly add up.
  
  
• Tell people why you’re supporting ORBIS
  People usually have their own unique reasons for supporting ORBIS, so tell everyone why you’re fundraising for us. It will help increase their enthusiasm for supporting your appeal.
  
  
• Suggest Gift Aid donations
  Ask your sponsors to ‘Gift Aid’ their donation by ticking the Gift Aid box on our sponsorship form. ORBIS can claim 28p from the Inland Revenue for every £1 donated.
  
  
• Promote matched giving
  Many companies are willing to match amounts raised by staff for charity. If you're thinking of doing some fundraising at work, ask your employer about matched giving. You could double the amount you raise with minimal effort! Your employer may be willing to support you in other ways, too. Find out if you can place an article in the staff newsletter or display a poster advertising your fundraising activity on the staff notice board. The more people who know what you’re doing, the more money you’ll raise!
  
  
• Say thank you
  Once you’ve finished your fundraising, let everyone know how much you’ve raised so that they can see just how important their support has been and what a the difference they'll make in the lives of others.
  
  
• Most of all ... have fun!
  Enthusiasm is contagious. If you have fun, so will those whose support you're seeking. You'll also be more likely to attain your goal if you enjoy what you're doing.
