Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited has been an important and active sponsor of ORBIS programs in China for more than a decade. Standard Chartered funded the creation of “Kids Sight,” ORBIS’s childhood blindness initiative in China, which led to the establishment of the country’s first pediatric ophthalmology facility. Standard Chartered Bank also provided assistance enabling ORBIS to establish the first eye bank in western China. 

In 2003, Standard Chartered launched a global fundraising program called “Seeing Is Believing,” which supports blindness prevention and sight restoration programs. Through Standard Chartered’s collaboration with ORBIS in greater China, the funds raised through “Seeing Is Believing” have mainly been used to develop sight-saving, training and education projects in China.
