Cyber-Sight® is a means for connecting people via the internet in their efforts to provide quality eye care leading ultimately to the elimination of avoidable blindness.
The stimulus for Cyber-Sight® was the perceived need
to add continuity to a long series of successful but time-limited programs.
With Cyber-Sight®, ORBIS can now achieve extended
that contact with those served is not limited by how long the FEH is in place
or how long a hospital program lasts. The program is available to all
qualified ophthalmologists in the developing countries and needs the support of
any qualified ophthalmologist who wishes to donate his/her time and expertise.
Cyber-Sight® is an interactive
website that has three distinctive program components:
- E-Consultation links partners with expert mentors for the purpose of patient
consultation with emphasis on teaching partners in the most effective methods
of diagnosis and management.
- E-Resources is an electronic “library” of educational material available free and
geared to any ophthalmologist or eye healthcare provider worldwide.
- E-Learning allows enrolled doctors to have access to electronic texts including
selected material that is password protected to include those in developing
countries by agreement with the publisher and for students to take tests
covering basic ophthalmic material while earning continuing medical education
